Every now and then a unique new cook book comes along. Cowboy Food is such a book! It was developed from original 1800s and 1900s western recipes. Many such recipes like bowls of red and Foo Eggs would have been found in chuck wagons, saloons and cabins throughout the west. Where possible, the recipes have been made healthier to today’s heart smart standards. Cowboy Food is a how-to book and it provides all of the information needed to easily create your own personal recipes. In addition there are many original recipes, over 135 pages in all. Unique and tasty snacks are in there too, like stuffed eggs, salsas and salads. Absolutely wonderful when the gang gets together for a sporting event, backyard bbq, party or camping trip. It gets even better! Cowboy Food, the book, contains humorous western commentary throughout, delivered by a fictitious character called Pappy Jack. Pappy brings the true flavor of the Old West to life while you are making your own competition chili.
Cowboy Food is absolutely alive with the tastes, and atmosphere
of the Wild, Wild, West.

I would like to introduce you to a figment of my imagination. Pappy Jack!
According to Pappy, he was around during the civil war and he loves to regale you with stories of early western cowboys and Indians.
Frankly, I think he spins some mighty tall yarns and I would not place much stock in any of them. His stories do bring the flavor of the old west back to life however.
